“O Canada” is in the process of being overhauled to become more inclusive.
A federal bill to edit the anthem, replacing “true patriot love, in all thy sons command” with the gender-neutral “in all of us command,” is expected to become law this fall.
The lyrics “Thy sons command” were created to pays homage to soldiers fighting in the First World War.
Now, of course, there are also female soldiers on the front lines.
So should the “O Canada” we have become accustomed to be changed?
