In the wake of a 16-year-old snowboarder’s death on Grouse Mountain two years ago, the B.C. Coroners Service has released a report recommending mandatory helmet use on all B.C. ski hills.
The report’s author say it’s unclear if a helmet would have prevented the youth’s death.
One ski industry expert says helmet use should not be legislated as educating skiers and snowboarders seems to already be working, with 85 per cent compliance in B.C.
