Fruit trees, badly cleaned barbecues or improperly disposed of garbage cans encourage bears to seek out the source.
Recently, a proposed bylaw in the city of Revelstoke, B.C., would allow city workers to go onto homeowners’ yards and clean up any bear attractants in sight.
This comes after nine bears were put down there in a week last year. On the North Shore, seven bears were killed last year under similar circumstances.
Should city workers be allowed on our lawns to clean up and bill us later?
