The province is considering raising the legal age of smoking from 19 to 21, B.C. Health Minister Terry Lake announced last week.

Lake took to Twitter to ask if B.C. should follow the U.S.’s lead in raising the legal smoking age. He also cited an American study that saw smoking rates among high school students decrease 47 per cent after the legal smoking age increased.
