Dear Editor:

As I watched the patient efforts of the North Shore bus driver, gently fastening a wheelchair bound passenger to his position - one belt for the chair, a second for the passenger - I couldn't help but think of my friend Gerald Cassel's recent letter to the North Shore News detailing his unhappy experience on a related bus line, To Hell With my Carbon Footprint. A few minutes later, this same driver slowed, then stopped to allow several passengers running behind to catch up. On that same stop, he called out a Vancouver transfer for some uncertain passengers, then slowed to help a passenger on crutches comfortably find a seat, greeting him warmly. As I exited in Ambleside, I had only nine words for this driver, "We appreciate you guys, more than we tell you!"

"No problem!" he smiled.
