Seniors facility comes expensive

Dear Editor: The statement by Mayor Richard Walton in regards to his parents spending their remaining years in Edgemont Village is interesting in its supposed simplicity (In Split Vote, Council Approves Edgemont Seniors Housing, North Shore News, July 17). I fail to see how this project can help seniors.

At a price of between $36,000 and $66,000 dollars a year this facility is beyond most seniors. I predict that the eventual occupants will be mostly very rich people from everywhere but Edgemont.

Even if Edgemont seniors sell their million dollar homes to move, a project such as this is not economical.
