Robin Hood should ride again

Dear Editor: I am shocked about the lack of reaction on the taxpayer side to news of municipal pay ballooning.

Dear Editor:

I am shocked about the lack of reaction on the taxpayer side to news of municipal pay ballooning. Small businesses and private households are struggling to make ends meet under the ever growing tax burden, only to find a growing cancer in the form of salaries, pensions and benefits for our municipal hotshots.

Taxes are supposed to reflect a service; in our case more than 80 per cent go into municipal wages. If the only excuse to pay top dollar is to attract top people, I'd like to challenge these ladies and gentlemen to find an equally rewarding job in the private sector. Good luck! At least they would have to perform rather than sit on their cushioned chairs.

It is time to stop this disease from spreading any further. The North Shore is dealing with enough modern day sheriffs of Nottingham; all we need is to find a Robin Hood.
