Principal's loss lamented

Dear Editor:

Another North Vancouver school board disaster. First they changed the French immersion secondary feeder school from Handsworth to Argyle. Then when we, the French immersion parents, switched our kids to the English program at Carson Graham, its principal, Stephen Garland, moves to a different high school!

Garland was at Balmoral and Carson Graham for nine years, and he worked so hard for all these years to change the reputation and bring in the International IB Program. He also oversaw the first renovation of Carson Graham and then went through the process of making sure that the school board and the government are not just doing a seismic upgrade for $20 million, but are building a brand new school for our community, for all the families. Here is another loss of an incredible principal to West Vancouver and then you wonder why so many families prefer that too.

The Carson Graham families are deeply disturbed, troubled and overcome with sadness. We feel ill and defeated.
