The majority of North Shore respondents to a recent poll agreed with the concept of vaccine passports.

The province's B.C. Vaccine Card, which will be required to access non-essential businesses like restaurants, gyms and theatres, comes into effect on Sept. 13.

With 90 per cent of North Vancouver, and 85 per cent of West Vancouver/Bowen Island residents having had at least one dose, support for the program appears to be very high.

North Shore News polled 1,111 North Shore News readers and asked the question: Do you support the B.C. Vaccine Card?

The poll ran from Aug. 23 to Aug. 27. Of the 1,111 votes, we can determine that 391 are from within the North Shore community. The full results are as follows:

Yes, it's time to stamp out COVID-19 if we can. 78.76 % total, 80.56 % local
Maybe, but I have some concerns. 4.32 % total, 5.37 % local
No, civil liberties are more important. 16.83 % total, 14.07 % local

This result provides for a 95% confidence level +/- 2.92% margin of error in the local community.
