Poll: Hybrid combo of work from home and office is the best of both worlds, say North Shore readers

Almost an equal number of workers said they're happy vs. not happy to go back to the office. About the same number said they're continuing to work from home.

Variety is the spice of life – and of work – according to North Shore workers who responded to a recent poll on returning to the office.

As the more acute phase of the COVID-19 pandemic wanes, more businesses are asking workers to return to the office in person, after two years of work-from-home arrangements. Among employees who responded to a recent poll, 34 per cent say a "hybrid model," combining some days working from the office and some days working from home, is the best of both worlds. Among other local workers who responded to the poll, almost 16 per cent they're happy to see their colleagues in person and get dressed in something other than sweatpants. An almost equal number – just over 15 per cent – said they'd prefer to skip the commute and continue to work from home. And almost as many – over 14 per cent – said they're continuing with the work-from-home arrangement.

Also worth noting – more 20 per cent of employees say because of the nature of their job, they never had the option of working from home.

The North Shore News polled 1,120 North Shore News readers and asked the question: How do you feel about being told to return to the office?

The poll ran from 4/20/2022 to 5/2/2022. Of the 1,120 votes, we can determine that 441 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:
