Withing days of the Uvalde mass shooting, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Canada would be bringing in tougher gun control legislation, including an eventual freeze on the sale or importation of handguns.

How do North Shore residents feel about tougher rules for guns?

North Shore News polled 1,180 online readers and asked the question: Do you support tougher gun control laws in Canada?

The poll ran from May 30 to June 3 on our website. Of the 1,180 votes, we can determine that 457 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

Yes, getting and keeping guns should be very difficult. 80.09% local, 70.08% total
