Dear Editor:
While watching The Iron Lady, an excellent film with many long and quiet scenes in it, I was much distracted by the cacophony from the movie munchers beside and behind me.
One heard the mastication of popcorn mouthful by mouthful, punctuated by slurps and burps.
The build-up to the climax is noisy scrabbling at the bottom of the bag to capture the last bits of popcorn, while the climax came in the most poignant part of the film with the scrumpling of the bag itself.
Perhaps we should go back to the old notion of smoking and non-smoking zones: one for the munchers and one for the rest of us.
