Dear Editor:

After reading your Feb. 29 story, NV Man Petitions for Longboard Ban, I sympathize with Mr. Duffy and if I lived near him I would sign his petition.

It is unfortunate that missing from the article, is what happens when Mr. Duffy goes to ICBC for his claim on damages to his vehicle. The longboarder is a juvenile and probably has no insurance. Mr. Duffy is left high and dry unless he can sue the parents.

I had a similar problem with a bike mishap some years ago. The biker got new clothes and a bike and I was supposed to pay for it, even after the police found the biker was 100 per cent to blame. After lengthy arguments, I finally won my case.

So it seems to me the longboard/bicycle groups should be licensed and carry some hefty insurance.
