LETTER: What are people's needs when it comes to parking?

Dear editor:

I read with interest your article on the District of North Vancouver council mulling over bike safety issues and resident parking concerns along East 29th Street.

Kudos to council for fulfilling their obligation to the taxpayers. However, the City of North Vancouver is another matter.

Residents of the 200 blocks of East 28th and 29th streets are concerned about losing on-street parking.

This block does not enjoy lane access and a number of homes do not have onsite parking. Despite a letter to mayor and council in March 2018 and subsequent neighbourhood petition to support our situation, city officials have been relatively silent. Would it not be prudent for the city to canvas the block and determine the needs of its citizens before spending $330,000 of their tax dollars?

How about determining the number of vehicles in each household and calculating the number of on-street parking spaces required prior to finalizing a design?
