Dear Editor:
Re: Artificial Turf Studied for Inter River, July 2 story.
As a former resident of the Lynnmour area, I am stunned by this cynical proposal.
Apparently, all 3,600 members of the North Vancouver Football Club believe the desire for a few boys to play at (artificial turf fields under consideration for lower Inter River Park) is worth fundamentally altering the nature of an entire neighbourhood, despite clear and vocal opposition from Lynnmour residents.
Go ahead, NVFC: clearcut and destroy a remnant forest, displace birds and animals, shatter the peace of a neighbourhood with screaming and referees'whistles; and, for good measure, negatively affect the property values of hard-working people who purchased their staggering mortgages precisely because their backyard did not back up against the fence of (proposed artificial turf and clubhouse).
This selfish and unnecessary proposal should be legally blocked as contrary to the stated goals of the District of North Vancouver's official community plan for the Lynnmour area.
