Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau makes a whistle-stop in the riding of Papineau in Montreal, Quebec on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, on the first day of the election campaign.

Dear Editor:

Well, here we go again. Election day in 2019 was Oct. 21. Election day in 2021 will be Sept. 20.

The cost of the 2019 B.C. provincial election was roughly $510 million.

Elections Canada estimates the cost of this year's election to be in the order of $610 million.

That seems like a lot of money Canadian taxpayers are being expected to spend for less than two years of government.

When you go out to vote on Sept. 20, just consider how much $610 million is, and ask yourself why on earth we are being asked to spend it.
