Dear Editor:
This is an open letter to the kind soul who found my daughter’s wallet on a shelf in the cosmetics department of WalMart in Capilano Mall on Mother’s Day, and taught her a valuable lesson in the process.
Within three minutes of realizing that she had carelessly left it behind, my daughter returned to retrieve her wallet. In that short span of time, you took not only the cash out of her wallet, but also her belief in the goodness of others. We’ve seen a few stories in the paper about honest citizens turning in large sums of cash to the police.
Thanks to you, my daughter now knows that there are also petty, opportunistic thieves among us. I hope you are proud of yourself, and enjoy your $35 windfall of a child’s savings. Spend it well, as she would have.
