Dear Editor:

Re: Nobody Hikes Here Anymore – It’s Too Crowded, May 11 The North Side column by Paul Sullivan.

How do we get our trails back to ourselves? We pull a Wakanda.

If you haven’t seen Marvel’s Black Panther then you’re really missing out, but here’s an important plot piece: Wakanda is a beautiful kingdom with advanced technology, but it’s hidden. The rest of the world thinks it’s a wreck that won’t accept international aid. Its tourism rates are probably a very low source of income.

The North Shore trails need to become a Wakanda. We’ve got to give outsiders the impression that our trails suck.

Give ourselves one-star reviews on TripAdvisor and AllTrails. We have to make that sacrifice. People will believe that. Without questioning it, people will see these reviews and know that it’s obviously not worth it. Being the most beautiful place on earth was an overstatement.

Start now and by July, our trails will be ours. Just ours.
