Dear editor:

I just wanted to send out a heartfelt thank you to the young woman who took it upon herself on Remembrance Day to perform the Last Post and Reveille on the soccer field at Boulevard Park.

At 11 o'clock precisely, she and her companion walked onto the field and she started to play as the planes flew overhead.

Clearly not to bring fanfare via facebook or twitter, as there were very few of us there. Just an impromptu performance to pay her respects to all of our veterans who have unselfishly and heroically sacrificed their lives for us so that we can enjoy the freedom and peace we have been gifted in this country. I have to say i was at loose ends this year without the service at Victoria Park, not knowing how to pay tribute to the veterans.

I walked up to the Boulevard thinking i would just stand at the flag for my two minutes of silence. And then you appeared and have left me with a unexpected cherished memory. Thank you so very much!
