Dear Editor:
The phrase “tax fairness” and “fair share” are used constantly by Liberal and NDP members of Parliament to justify increasing taxes on corporations. But “fairness” is in the eye of the beholder, and to say that “we support a fair tax system” is an empty, meaningless statement, as no MP would ever say he supports an “unfair” tax system.
When you tax Peter to pay Paul, and you only ask Paul if it’s fair, you are not really looking for “fairness,” you are looking for support.
