Dear Editor:
Re: Humanity is the Antidote to President Poison, Nov. 25, The North Side opinion piece.

I wish to commend Paul Sullivan for his very inspiring piece. Trump has defined us better than anyone in recent years. A swastika in Edgemont Village is just an aberration, but a reminder to be proactive.

We are ahead of the world in terms of our humanity, having learned from our past history. Americans are still musing whether their court decision to detain their Japanese citizens in the Second World War can be applied to their three million Muslims today! Never mind the destruction of Iraq for oil.

How heartening is it that our very own Santa Ono is the new president of UBC, whose family like Minister Naomi Yamamoto’s were in an internment camp.

We can all move forward by weaving ourselves into becoming “unhyphenated” Canadians as our beloved Senator Ray Perrault advised us Ugandans. Language skills and community engagement are a must.
