Dear Editor:
Re: Province to Fund Sea to Sky Safety Barrier, March 1 front-page story.
I first drove the (Sea to Sky) highway in 1966 with my small car many times without realizing how dangerous the highway was back then.
Now I am retired and still drive the most beautiful highway in the world and get passed (by other vehicles) in a 60 km/h zone when I go 70 km/h and that’s by small cars, big cars and trucks. Most drivers ignore the speed limit, weather conditions and other drivers.
So what is wrong? Certainly not the highway.
Yes, you have to pay attention, respect nature, the speed limit, and the people who build the highway and maintain it. Yes, we need a safe highway, which we have, but we also need more unmarked police cars.
