Dear Editor:
Three big cheers to teacher Andrea Yeo, Seycove secondary’s Queer Straight Alliance Club and the Seycove and North Vancouver School District administrators for their advocacy on behalf of transgender students.
The designation of a gender-neutral washroom at the school is a move that reflects the province’s safe and caring schools philosophy and should prompt all other schools to follow suit since learning outcomes and sense of community are optimized when all students are treated in a fair, inclusive and respectful manner.
Kudos to all those who took part in this project, I’m proud that both my children graduated from this supportive, forward-looking school.
