Dear Editor:
At 2:30 am Sunday, May 21, a Good Samaritan picked up an injured cat on Mount Seymour Parkway, and took her to the emergency veterinary clinic in Vancouver, perhaps a great distance out of their way.
Sadly she did pass away. I found this out while calling the (animal welfare shelter) about our precious Mittens gone missing this long weekend.
I have since been told that the cat picked up that night on the parkway was our sweet Mittens and she passed away in comfort after having been given pain medication.
I am ever so grateful to know she did not die alone on the side of the road, but was helped in her final hours and died peacefully.
It is closure, and the Good Samaritan was amazing – in the middle of the night.
We just want to thank you for being so kind and it is comforting to know that someone cared enough to go out of their way to help an injured animal.
