Re: Ticketing Blitz Putting Brakes on ‘Rat Run,’ July 28 front-page story.

In reference to your story in regards to police ticketing “rat racers” in the Queensbury area. I’m so happy for those people on East Fourth Street. They got their barrier, and traffic has slowed down.

As a resident on East Seventh Street for over 26 years, we are not happy. For the past two years, since they started work on the Keith Road Bridge, we have been swarmed with rat racers, hundreds of cars, almost every day now. They speed down our street, endangering kids and pets.

Officials installed speed humps, which have done nothing to slow the cars down. The signs saying “local traffic only” mean nothing to the jam jumpers. We are supposed to get a barrier making our block one-way only, going west, but when? Seems like after the speed humps were put in, all other promised work stopped. We need some police on our street, handing out tickets for speeding. I’ve learned to get all my errands done by noon, to be sure I can get home.

This problem is only going to get worse and we could sure use some help in this area, before someone gets hurt, or a beloved pet gets killed.
