Letter: Public gyms are lined for multi-sport, why not tennis courts for pickleball too?

Having only tennis lines on outdoor courts would be like saying we will only allow basketball lines on an indoor gym floor

Dear Editor:

I understand some tennis players would prefer not to have pickleball lines on tennis courts so the public will be discouraged from using the courts for anything other than tennis.

I think having these lines on tennis courts is a good idea because it makes better use of these facilities.

I live in Norgate beside the two tennis courts we have down here, and for the most part these courts get used very little. With pickleball lines, a greater portion of the public would be able to enjoy them. We have at least four times more tennis courts in the District of North Vancouver than pickleball courts and it is very obvious when I go up to Murdo Frazer to play pickleball and need to wait long periods of time to get to play on a pickleball court while at the same time I see some of the tennis courts not being used.

All of our public gyms have multiple lines on the floor and the different sports do not have difficulty distinguishing.

Having only tennis lines on outdoor courts would be like saying we will only allow basketball lines on an indoor gym floor.
