Dear Editor:
I would like to applaud the mayor and city council for their bold decision to move forward with the Pipe Shop at the Shipyards as a venue for community and private events and not the site of the new North Vancouver Museum. Since its inception as an event space the Pipe Shop has been in demand and used for everything from markets to weddings, fundraisers to fashion shows, school events, product launches and even weekly yoga.
The restored Pipe Shop is a history lesson in itself with soaring vaulted ceilings, impressive reclaimed beams and walls of windows.
As a space usable by the community, the Pipe Shop will continue to make history as an integral part of the new central waterfront development.
As an event planner, the Pipe Shop is the kind of venue my dreams are made of. A large, open space for up to 700, flooded with natural light and with character in spades, the Pipe Shop is a blank canvas that can be transformed to fit a client’s vision or look just as impressive when left as is. It is unmatched in Vancouver and beyond, making North Vancouver a destination for those seeking out a unique yet attainable venue.
I look forward to watching the transformation of the Shipyards over the next few years and am delighted to know that the Pipe Shop will continue to be an accessible part of the community for years to come.
