LETTER: Pedestrians, say thanks with wave and smile

Dear Editor: I’ve a suggestion for fellow pedestrians. I call it courtesy with a smile.

Dear Editor:

I’ve a suggestion for fellow pedestrians.

I call it courtesy with a smile.

As a pedestrian, although I do drive too, I’ve gotten into the habit of acknowledging with a wave or a smile – or both – drivers who stop for me at crossings, or elsewhere.

There is almost always an acknowledgement of some kind on the part of the driver, and then we all go on our way, happily.

Who knows? It may even take a little bit of stress off an otherwise preoccupied driver.
