Dear Editor:
At around 11 p.m. the other night we noticed this visitor sitting on the handrail of our deck.
We established that it is a barred owl and it watched the stream below for about 30 minutes. We managed to get some good photographs without a flash and it was very accommodating, sitting very still for the fivesecond portraits required with such low light. It was great to see such an impressive bird in the heart of residential West Vancouver.
