Dear Editor:

Watching the presentation of the waterfront vision (Feb. 18) and comments from some councillors, it's obvious the campaign for the November election is underway.

Mr. Brooks, a "destination expert" who spent much time flogging himself, has presented his vision for the Central Waterfront. This vision is likely to cost about $25 million, plus another $20 million for a Ferris wheel that will be built privately. I can't imagine the upkeep cost for the 15,000-square foot-ice rink from November to February, supposedly the months when it will be useable.

This when senior governments, and most citizens are being fiscally prudent.

I can't decide whether the quote of the night should be: "how cool is thaaaaaat!" or "it will fall apart if you ask the public," as he urged council to direct staff to get to work on it.
