Dear Editor:
The North Vancouver Museum is fundraising to build a new museum. This letter is to remind all the North Vancouver adults who have visited the North Vancouver museums on school field trips.
Do you remember the old PGE Railway Station at Mahon Park? The station was filled to the brim with artifacts from the past. There was an old wood and coal stove with a water heater, big bread bowls, a butter churn and an old telephone, old photographs, a wind-up record player and oil lamps. There were old magazines, school books, wooden pens with nibs and ink and children’s toys. It was a magical place and, wonder of wonders, we found out that there was no television or indoor plumbing! It was almost impossible to believe.
The museum in the old city hall on Fourth Street was also like taking a step back in time with the logging and ship building exhibits. The past became alive when visiting.
Please support building a new home to keep our collective history alive.
