Dear Editor:
Re: Kinder Morgan facility protest.
Everyone’s right to take part in lawful protest is an important pillar in a democratic society. When legal limits are placed on a protest, such as a court injunction to establish a protest boundary line, then it is imperative that the protesters do not breach the order of the court.
The Supreme Court of B.C. did issue an injunction and many persons felt that they had the right to ignore it and were arrested for their ill-considered action. Unfortunately, two people, who should have known better, decided that they also would act in an imprudent manner.
MPs May and Stewart, who were elected to represent all their constituents, not just those opposed to the Kinder Morgan project, went too far when they decided to flout the law and act in contempt of the court imposed injunction. You would expect them to give leadership and guidance, which clearly they do not understand, and act in a responsible manner.
