Dear Editor:

Re: Pipeline Chicken Littles Should Watch Out for Tar, April 13 opinion column by Paul Sullivan.

I was disappointed in your column today about Kinder Morgan. It was a fairly one-sided discussion of the topic, reminiscent of previous columns by Paul Sullivan that are only sketchy, dressed-up opposition to the project. It all becomes fairly clear where the North Shore News stands on this matter.

Where is the information, the balance, the data that would allow readers to understand this complex topic? Wouldn’t that be more useful and intellectually honest for News readers?

There are obviously positive features of note since it has come this far, including the safe history of Kinder Morgan, extensive tanker traffic already off the coast, comparison with other major ports, modern navigational/safety features, jobs/income/royalties and many more.

Vancouver blogger Vivian Krause has documented how much of the opposition is financed out of foundations in the United States. Does that ever see the light of day?

Obviously, it will also lead to further erosion of investment in Canada, which is already on the wane. Who in their right mind would plan another pipeline in Canada?

It reflects of course the views of radicals (sorry, “progressives”) in the federal cabinet who have co-opted global warming (sorry, “climate change”) to their own ends, much like the damage done by Dalton McGuinty, the former premier of Ontario. Another long story there.

There has been basically no warming for the last 20 years (hence the quiet change in name) but this makes a much less interesting story than people being drowned or fried in the streets.
