Dear Editor:
My wife, and friends (three tables of 10), looked forward to the Lynn Valley Gala every year. It was a fantastic community event where you get to party with good friends and catch up with other Lynn Valley acquaintances in a social setting. What a great outdoor event with the backdrop of the local mountains, dinner and dancing.
Pricing was $80 per person. Last year, $90 per person. This year a whopping $150 per person. I’m pretty sure the increase can’t be because of the band, or the venue, as that hasn’t changed. A few years ago, a buffet-style dinner was offered. Two years ago, the service improved and table service was offered. Will lobster and crab be offered and an open bar? Really, what could merit an increase of $120 per couple, which works out to an extra $60,000 with 500 attending?
Lynn Valley Days is a fun-filled family event that celebrates the history and progression of our great community.
The event was fantastic last year at $90.
Emails have been sent advising the committee that the price increase is unacceptable and so far we have not received a response that justifies or explains this whopping increase.
It is disappointing that the residents that have supported the event from Day 1 are not being heard.
