Open letter to District of North Vancouver, TransLink and CapU:

Regarding the April 17 news story West Van Says No to B-Line Past Park Royal, I would like to suggest that the resources originally slated for the Park Royal to Dundarave section of the proposed North Shore B-Line be diverted to serve Phibbs Exchange to Capilano University.

Since West Vancouver council has turned down plans for extended service in their jurisdiction, the rest of the North Shore should benefit by expanding service to the new towers in the Lower Lynn town centre (aka Seylynn), the Lynnmour neighbourhood and Capilano University.

Further, (as it is my understanding the current 239 route will be discontinued in conjunction with the startup of the new B-Line) this would allow current users to continue their journey without the inconvenience of having to transfer at Phibbs Exchange.

Paul Burritt
North Vancouver

Editor’s note: A TransLink media relations adviser provides the following response: "The funding for B-Line-related improvements in West Vancouver were to be funded out of the B-Line project budget and we will be reinvesting unused service hours, fleet and infrastructure funds into other B-Line related priorities throughout the region, including the North Shore. More generally, it's important for your readers to know that we are committed to working with all North Shore municipalities to support and improve transit service in a variety of ways including more service hours, new routes and upgraded facilities."
