Dear Editor:

Last week I arrived at Seylynn Park and was devastated to see all the beautiful, mature trees on the south border of the park gone!

The photo and caption in the North Shore News on July 20 indicated this was to make way for parking. What could have been a great buffer between the imposing “Hunter at Lynn Creek” development has been removed. I understand this is to be a live/work area but all the businesses on Hunter Street are also gone. The developer advertises this as “North Shores Most Family Friendly Community.”

Is this a plan to increase the District of North Vancouver tax base but at the expense of increased density and traffic?

Editor's Note: The row of trees on Hunter Street at the southern end of Seylynn Park was slated to be removed and eventually replaced as part of the roadway improvements negotiated within the Hunter Street development project and in keeping with the Seylynn & Bridgman Parks Conceptual Master Plan. The trees sat in the roadway allowance and not within the park boundary.
