Dear Editor:

Your recent editorial (Worth Addressing, June 12) echoed the now common complaints about our Senators’ spending habits and their sense of entitlement after an audit turned up less than $1 million in questionable expenses — not even a decent bribe by FIFA standards.

Interestingly, on the same page, letter-writer Liam Grehan points out a TransLink estimate of $18 million annually in lost revenue due to fare evasion.

Apparently, transit riders in total have an even greater sense of entitlement than our Senators.

Paraphrasing (satirical cartoon character) Pogo slightly, I guess we could say: “we have met the spending evaders and he is us.”
