Dear Editor:
I tip my hat to 86-year-old Neil Heesterman, Jan. 17 Mailbox .
If he bought his electric bike 10 years ago, that means he was still riding a pedal bike at 76! I run and bike at 63, but am always inspired by my elders doing both and more.
Re: the bike lift cost/benefit, I would strongly suggest that the City and District of North Vancouver mayors consider a $300 subsidy for any resident 19 and over, towards purchasing an electric bike.
If the desired outcome is to get more people on bikes that can go up hills, then I cannot help but think this would be a far more effective use of public funds.
