LETTER: Driver's quick actions averted another head-on

Dear Editor: I wanted to extend my gratitude to the driver in the eastbound lane on Highway 1 near Capilano Bridge who alerted drivers of the oncoming van on Wednesday, March 12.

Dear Editor:

I wanted to extend my gratitude to the driver in the eastbound lane on Highway 1 near Capilano Bridge who alerted drivers of the oncoming van on Wednesday, March 12.

I cannot imagine how helpless you must have felt when you saw the van driving into the westbound traffic.

Please know that by flashing your high beams, you quite possibly saved my husband's and my 13-year-old son's life that night. My husband saw your lights and realized there was something on the road ahead.

He was then able to swerve to the side of the road, avoiding a head-on collision with the van. Thank you, not only for what you did for my family, but for the other drivers you alerted that night.

Our family was devastated to learn that a little girl was injured in the accident. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with this little girl and her family.
