Dear Editor:
I wish to express my disgust at the ongoing butchering of our natural beauty.
I moved to Canada many decades ago to enjoy all that it had to offer. Over the years I have seen nothing but the money and greed of “development” (destroy) our beautiful city.
Why won’t anyone stand up to fight this abuse?
Recently I downsized from my family home in Upper Lonsdale to an apartment in Lynn Valley. lt is a corner unit and I had a beautiful stand of cedars outside my living room and bedroom window.
This gave me great comfort as I loved viewing the birds and squirrels that frequented the branches.
One day last week I was awakened by a large piece of machinery. Within hours, every living thing was gone. Another condo development is going in.
When will it all stop? Has the pursuit of the almighty dollar so blinded our sense of right and wrong? lt was a higher power that created this world we live in. lt is ours to take care of.
At least they could have left a small row of trees for many of us to enjoy.
