Dear Editor:

Re: Letter from Stephen Smith, Sunday, June 1, Motorists: Give us Cyclists Some Space.

In your letter you state your brakes are not as precise as on an SUV , so you may lose control at the bottom of a hill and have to go through a four-way stop as it's safer.Wouldn't that be a warning to ride slower and within the limits of your equipment and not depend on that big SUV being able to avoid you? One of the basic rules of the road is that you should be able to stop within the clear distance of road ahead of you. Anything else is a recipe for a collision.
