Dear Editor:
I was driving along Third Street east of Lonsdale Avenue the other day and couldn’t help but notice that the housing density is increasing five- or tenfold.
I travel a little farther down the Third Street hill and it’s impossible not to notice the sea of weeds and dead plants on both sides of the road in what was a newly planted area only a couple of years ago.
Surely, some of the increased taxes that come from increasing the density should go to keeping the new plantings looking good?
North Van has a reputation for being well maintained. Now that [the municipality is] increasing the density and increasing the tax base, this isn’t the time to let maintenance fall apart.
North Van needs to continue to be well maintained, especially as it becomes higher density.
