Dear Editor:

I am a Sunshine Cabs driver based on Lonsdale and on Saturday evening at about 10:30 p.m. I left McDonald’s at Lonsdale Avenue and 20th Street heading south.

By 15th Street I realized that my wallet was not in my pocket and I had last used it about an hour before. I pulled over and checked and checked my cab searching for the wallet, which had my week’s takings in cash ready to deposit at the end of my shift that night.

Concern became alarm, became panic, became emptiness as I realized the enormity of the loss. Then my phone rang and it was my dispatch calling me to tell me that two young ladies had seen me drop my wallet outside McDonald’s and that if I drove back they would wait for me, which I did.

I have been driving in North Vancouver for more than five years and have always thought that the people of North Vancouver are very special, but never more than on Saturday. The parents of the two young ladies can be very proud of them ... I am.
