LETTER: Boarders: unplug or risk an accident

Dear Editor:

Yesterday while driving at lunch time on a very busy Marine Drive in North Vancouver, I was astounded at what I saw: a young man on his skateboard, listening to music, wearing earplugs, with his head down using his phone.

He was quite oblivious to what was happening around him and only noticed the car turning right in front of him when the driver blasted on his horn several times.

If the driver had happened to be watching other cars at that exact moment, there is no doubtin my mind that the young man would have been hit.

I'm all for skateboards, cellphones and listening to music - but please remind your kids about the proper place to do this and it's not on a major road.
