Dear Editor:

Re. Lions Gate/Stanley Park causeway biking.

I bike this route about twice a week all year round going from Ambleside to downtown. The section on the bridge and especially on the causeway is an accident looking to happen, especially in summer time when tourists are walking the route oblivious to the cyclist sharing the same sidewalks. If an error is made on the causeway, it is very close to the road where cars regularly travel over 70 kilometres per hour - in other words, it is fatal. There at least needs to be a barrier between the causeway road and the sidewalk, and hopefully a division between a biking lane and a walking lane on the sidewalk itself. If they can make Point Grey Road a bike lane, they can do this upgrade, as it is for safety.
