Letter: A positive paramedic story amid mass shortage

We hope we never have to call on them, but when we do, they are there to help

Dear Editor:

Our paramedics got some bad press recently. I want to provide a different perspective.

Last Sunday night I had to call 911 to assist a loved one in distress. The firetruck arrived within 10 minutes and the ambulance shortly thereafter.

The firefighters and paramedics were very professional, empathetic, efficient and supportive. They were so calm and kind it really helped us get through this crisis. At the hospital the two paramedics made sure he was safe and cared for before leaving to make at least three more rescues while we were in the emergency ward. Our heartfelt thanks to all of our emergency workers but especially to the paramedics who came to our aid.

I feel so blessed to live in a place where we have access to these amazing services. We hope we never have to call on them, but when we do, they are there to help.
