Investigate a Vancouver Island bridge

Dear Editor:

The recent accident at the ferry terminal at Duke Point is another reason why there is a need to look closely at constructing a bridge from the Mainland to Vancouver Island.

Recent controversy over the high wages paid to executives and other personnel associated with the ferry corporation, the increased costs of fuel and the costs of purchasing and maintaining a fleet of ferries all point to the need for a bridge. As an example, all we have to do is look at what the Confederation Bridge has done for Prince Edward Island.

I believe that people and commercial enterprises travelling between Vancouver Island and the Mainland would be happy with paying a toll instead of having to run their lives around a ferry schedule.
