A recent CIBC report found that nearly two-thirds of Canadians say their holiday spending has gotten out of control. About 52 per cent of people who participated in the poll say they expect to go over budget and 41 per cent say they can’t afford the spending, but feel pressured. Some say they love to play Santa, but nine per cent are outright Scrooges. Millennials were the biggest group that identified themselves as “modern day Santas.” With Christmas fast approaching, we wanted to know if North Shore residents think their holiday spending is out of control.
