This year’s Provincial Eating Disorders Awareness Week, Feb. 1-7, explores a theme that’s perhaps not so familiar to famously health-conscious Vancouverites. Orthorexia, defined as an unhealthy obsession with eating healthy food to the point that it could negatively impact a person’s health or emotional well-being, is this year’s focus. While many might scoff at the idea that one could eat too healthy, service providers want people to be aware that as soon as healthy eating controls one’s life it might be time for a change.
