On April 16, the federal government implemented catch-and-release fishing restrictions on B.C.’s chinook salmon in an effort to protect vulnerable at-risk stocks.

On April 16, the federal government implemented catch-and-release fishing restrictions on B.C.’s chinook salmon in an effort to protect vulnerable at-risk stocks.

As a result, sport and recreational anglers from around the province feel they are being unfairly penalized when it comes to catching salmon that they say made up less than one per cent of the chinook caught in 2018.

As fishing season draws upon us and many get ready to hit the water, line in hand,  we posed the question: do these new chinook salmon restrictions affect you?
